Nick Faulkner

Nick is a very experienced Information Security Consultant with extensive Project Management experience (15 years contracting) much served within the public sector or with consultancies serving the public sector. His work has covered areas including operational, accreditation, certification as well as the creation of a strategy for the Home Office Shared Service in 2006. He is proud to have delivered accreditation for over 10 systems, achieved connection to GSI & CJX written complete RMADS, sets or policy, procedure as well as standards.

In recent months Nick has been ensuring security in major outsourcing within the Telecommunications industry, first for Vodafone and lately for the creating of major Eastern-European Centers of Excellence for BT Global.

He has extensive experience managing other in teams and sub-teams both in the delivery of projects and the delivery of Information Assurance. Whilst with Ericsson Nick had teams of 35 to organise and with SOCA, 5 Infosec professionals providing inforation security for that major public sector merger. The program included architectural analysis, risk assessments, RMADS, creation of all documentation. Nick's role was team leader and took responsibility for all ISO 27001 compliance work. He has completed risk assessments using IS1, CRAMM, Sprint and other leading methodologies and has a thorough understanding of COBIT, worked with a number of frameworks & tools. This year he has applied to rejoin the CLAS scheme and will add CISSP to his impressive list of qualifications including CISM, CISA & Prince2.

Nick is a very competent and organised individual that is particularly happy when balancing a number of stakeholder interests whilst working pragmatically to "get the job done", rolling up the sleeves as required. He is also very experienced working in political environments, resistant & disruptive individuals are seen as both a challenge and as a particularly useful source of risks and issues. He will always endeavour to create an appropriate sense of involvement but not allow projects to stall or become derailed. Particular examples were the formation of SOCA and the transformation of the Healthcare Commission.
