Since gaining my CLAS membership in 2000, I have in the last 10 years worked for at least 5 major Consultancy Organisations, whilst employed by them I was able to provide Advice and Guidance in a vast area of Information Assurance, working in environments that have covered Protectively Marked Material from PROTECT within Criminal Justice to SECRET at the Intelligence Service (SOCA). Over the last 5 years I have noted the differences in what CESG perceive as Good practice, and see that having continued correspondence with CESG is so important in order to consult and give the correct information.

Information Assurance Experience and Key Contributions

Prior to my last contract role at Capgemini, previous one to Logica, I had been working as Lead Security Consultant for Steria (CLG), dealing with all aspects of Security from Governance to implementing policies, procedures and supporting the accreditation of HMG systems.

I initially was taken on to facilitate the handover of Service management from DfT (Department for Transport) to Steria. After 6 months was asked to take on the role of Security Manager, which covered taking the lead on all aspects of Strategy, Architecture and Technology solutions.

Had been successful in helping the handover, reviewing and helping to produce an overarching RMADS, supporting Project managers following Prince2 and I was able to design and get Government approval for a number of accredited systems from VPN IPSEC Manual V compliancy to CHECK Health Pen­Tests.

Upon leaving the Department I was able to build an effective CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) covering all aspects of ITIL to conducting an Internal Audit against ISO 27001.
